3-month journal, B5 size (17.6 x 25 cm), 128 pages, premium 100 gsm responsibly sourced FSC paper, soft-touch cover, lie-flat binding.
We’ve had so many requests for a younger edition of our much-loved HappySelf Journal that we’ve created this My First HappySelf Journal for you to enjoy with the three- to six-year old in your life. It brings you all the goodness of our Junior edition adapted to this younger age group.
A daily quote or thought to help with a positive mindset
Build self-awareness. Circle and colour in the character that best reflects your feelings
Practice gratitude by sharing the good things in your day
Checklists, challenges and questions support positive habits, mindset and behaviour
It’s specially designed to be a shared experience, and there are lots of prompts along the way to help spark lovely conversations as you fill out the pages. We have deliberately left things flexible so you can make the journal your own, with plenty of space for a shared writing, drawing and colouring experience.
There is no better time than these early years to lay the foundations for happiness by exploring the positive habits that will help your child for years to come.
Our journals bring positive psychology and proven happiness habits into a beautifully illustrated child friendly journal format. Beautifully illustrated and easy to use, with just a few minutes each day, children benefit by being encouraged to express gratitude, reflect on their emotions and think about their actions.
- High quality paper is pencil, pen and crayon friendly
- Larger format than our Junior edition with plenty of space this age group
- The journal has a soft lie-flat binding to make it easy to write in
- Designed to be a shared experience so you can share the experience with your child
- Tested on children aged 3 to 6 to make sure the design and contents work across the age group
- Elastic and ribbon to keep your journal private and mark your page
- Undated so it doesn’t matter if you skip a day. Start whenever you want and use daily or whatever pattern suits you
- 3 months of daily journaling pages as well as a section of fun pages to fill out anytime
“I hope this journal becomes a beautiful way of exploring feelings, memories, kindness and gratitude as well as capturing what life is like for you and your child at this moment in time.”
With love from my family to yours
Francesca Geens, Creator The HappySelf Journal
HappySelf Junior edition
The age range is 6 to 12 based around what my own children would enjoy and be able to do. Depending on your child’s reading and writing abilities they may need some guidance at the younger end of the scale. There is flexibility and I have had good feedback from parents buying it for 3 to 5 year olds as well as young teens (and adults).
The journal has been designed to have little writing and there is plenty of space for different handwriting styles or drawing. The paper quality can cope with a range of pencils and pens.
I highly recommend you fill out the journal with your child, even acting as scribe if your child is tired or dislikes writing, so that the emphasis can be on the conversation and reflection rather than the act of writing.
Available in yellow and a range of limited edition colours.
Translated into Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish.
HappySelf Journal 12+ Edition
HappySelf Junior Edition
The journal has three months of daily journaling pages and a section at the front they can fill out at any time. Children are encouraged to fill out their journal every day but as the pages aren't dated it is possible to do it at your own rhythm and easy to keep going should you miss a day.
Three months is an ideal length as it's similar to a school term and so feels achievable for the children to establish their new daily journaling habit. When testing the kids preferred this length and a longer book would have been too bulky or heavy for small hands.
Continuation editions (which last for six months) will be coming out from mid 2020 but for now children are repeating the same journal on completion which is a nice way to reinforce the gratitude practice and growth mindset principles.
HappySelf Journal 12+ Edition
This journal also has three months of daily journaling pages and a section that can be filled out at any time at the front. It also introduces a weekly structure with pages to preview and review the week.
This journal has more space for free journaling on the daily pages.
